In Lord Krsna's Vedic culture a rural agrarian based economy is favored for its simplicity that allows time for high thinking. In stark contrast is today's complex society dominated by high living and no thinking. The business community is called Vaisyas and their duties are succinctly explained in Bhagavad-gita 18.44

“Farming, cow protection and business are the natural work for the Vaisyas.”
